Silk is a Canadian born academic. Silk was born in Fredericton. Ilkay Silk is the daughter of Peter Silk, who is an academic and Anna Silk, who's an actress, director as well as a producer and playwright. Some of Anna's earliest memories were playing rehearsals, and then watching her mother do her job. Silk had a number of commercials in which she appeared at a young age. The year 1997 was the time she earned an associate's degree from St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas was involved in at least two of the early stage productions which included Seven Menus (1997) and The Kitchen (1999). Silk moved to Toronto for further development of her acting profession in November 1999. She then, over the decade that followed, she relocated to Los Angeles, California. Seth Cooperman met Silk at an acting workshop held in Los Angeles in 2007. In 2009 they were legally married in December of 2009. On April 10, 2011 they reaffirmed their vows at the context of a Jewish ceremony in Fredericton after she converted to Judaism.
