Perry is she is Chicago native who was she was born into Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Two of her earliest television appearances were as Jackie Harris on ABC's sitcom Roseanne. Her mother played the role. She did not explore acting as a profession until she reached adulthood, as her parents were afraid of the negative impact stress might have. Perry, who was too timid to perform in the school, began performing at Northwestern University because she wanted to meet new people. Perry managed to get small TV roles in Law & Order: Criminal Intent following her graduation. The feeling of homelessness, however, led her back to California again where she began performing in the stage. Perry starred with her mother in The Other Place at Broadway at the end of 2013. In the year 2015, she was alongside Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer-winning Drama Anna Christie. Odyssey Theatre Ensemble Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. Perry was a part of nine episodes of the ABC drama The Family. In 2017, she starred in her own recurring part on the ABC political thriller Scandal with her father. She also played her young Mary Cooper in Young Sheldon, a CBS spin-off of The Big Bang Theory. The actress was chosen for the role in spite of her strong familial connection to the character.
